 November 12 Conference to Demand Action Against Uyghur Genocide and for the Restoration of East Turkistan’s Independence 

Who: The East Turkistan Government in Exile (ETGE) will host a landmark conference commemorating the anniversaries of the First and Second East Turkistan Republics and the 20th anniversary of ETGE’s founding. The conference will bring together ETGE officials, international advocates and activists, and survivors to rally global awareness of China’s ongoing genocide against Uyghur, Kazakh, Kyrgyz and other Turkic peoples and to advocate for the restoration of East Turkistan’s independence.

What: The November 12 conference will feature impactful speeches, commemorative ceremonies, and pivotal announcements urgently calling for international intervention against China’s ongoing campaign of colonization, genocide, and occupation in East Turkistan. The event will also unveil a comprehensive book documenting East Turkistan’s plight and the case for restoring its independence. Highlights include:

  • Keynote Speech: “East Turkistan’s Fight for Survival: Independence, Justice, and Global Responsibility” by Foreign Minister Salih Hudayar
  • Speech by Dr. Sayragul Sauytbay, concentration camp survivor, ETGE Vice President, and recipient of the 2021 U.S. State Department’s International Women of Courage Award, sharing her experiences and survival of China’s concentration camps
  • Speeches by Distinguished ETGE Officials and Allies, including President Dr. Mamtimin Ala, U.S. Sinologist Ben Lowsen, and author Ethan Gutmann, addressing the ongoing genocide and the critical need for global accountability
  • Launch of the Book: East Turkistan Was Never Part of China, and Restoring Its Independence is the Only Way Forward, a 376-page analysis of the Uyghur genocide, East Turkistan’s culture, history, and the path to restoring its independence. 
  • Launch of the East Turkistan National Identity Card, designed to affirm the citizenship and identity of East Turkistani people, symbolizing their connection to their homeland and their right to independence.
  • Award Ceremony: Presentation of the East Turkistan Medal of Friendship to non-East Turkistan allies who have shown outstanding solidarity and the East Turkistan Medal of Loyalty to veteran activists who have dedicated themselves to the cause of East Turkistan’s independence
